“Once you have read a book you care about, some part of it is always with you.” ― Louis L'Amour, Matagorda/The First Fast Draw
Rating: 9/10"I’m starting to understand just how good an actress this girl really is. And it depresses the hell out of me. Who wants to be good at ignoring everyone?" "Before he steps outside, he turns around to give me the kind of smile that makes me forget my own name." "Happiness is being wrapped into a kiss." "I’ve found that if you walk around like you belong somewhere—with your shoulders thrown back and your chin held high—people rarely stop you." "When I’ve finished my slice, he takes the plate out of my hands and sets it beside his. Then he reaches over to slide one muscular forearm beneath my knees, and he slides me onto his lap as if I weigh no more than the TV remote. Strong arms wrap around me, and my chin lands at his collar bone. I tuck my face into his neck and take a deep breath. He relaxes back against the sofa and sighs. As if we sit cuddling like this all the time." | I'm always surprised with how much I like Sarina Bowen's books. I guess I forget how much I enjoyed reading the previous Ivy Years stories and then read another and love it all over again. DJ has a great storyline. You really feel for him and can't help but pull for him in the terrible situation he's in. It's so sad how everyone turned against him even though he was completely innocent. I'm not sure I would have been as strong. I also think Leanne was incredibly down-to-earth for being a movie star. Plus hockey and hockey players and characters coming back from previous books always make it better. I actually really love how you get those small connections you'll only know about if you read the other books. And let me say, I've read a lot of young adult and new adult books. And I mean a LOT. But I didn't not see ahead of time Hosanna being the accuser! That took me by complete surprise and I think my jaw might have even dropped. I did see DJ playing hockey in the semis though, but I loved it nevertheless. Overall, this fifth Ivy Series book was just as good as the others in the series! "Achievement unlocked." "'I’m crazy about you,' he says." "And then he’s sucking gently, kissing me, while I melt like a cheap lipstick over his body." "If there was a spell for getting naked, I’d utter it." "I’m facedown in the ocean, and she’s the lifeboat." "This is how it feels to get just what you need when you didn’t even know you needed it." "Maybe I don’t date, but I watch films about people who do." "I’m probably the only guy on earth who’s going to start associating Macbeth with foreplay. Is that a dagger I see before me? Yeah baby. Hold my dagger." "I’ll go anywhere you lead me." |
