“Reading is the sole means by which we slip, involuntarily, often helplessly, into another's skin, another's voice, another's soul.” ― Joyce Carol Oates
Rating: 8/10"Hmm. It doesn't even get cool? Define cool. Below freezing. Jesus Christ, that's cool?" "I didn't play games with people. Mostly I told the truth. What you saw was what you got. Maybe that confused him." "By the time I get used to it, I'll be gone. This was true for a lot of the old people who thought they wanted to retire here." "We understood each other better than either of us was comfortable with." "On another occasion, he caught me in a headlock, which I really enjoyed." "I find multiple-choice tests soothing." | I started out not liking this story very much. But as I read more and more, it definitely grew on me. I love Will and Tia's got spunk. That's something you can't help but admire. I didn't really like how Tia thought that one trip to her sister's boyfriend's place would turn Will off for good. She should have at least let him make the decision for himself. Because one of the first rules in life is (and if it isn't, it should be): Never assume! But I did like Will's little ploy to get Tia to finally realize she wanted to go out with him and actually date him more than random hookups. Despite the fact that I saw it coming, it was cute nonetheless. However, I felt like Tia was too soon to cave and say I love you. After all that time of resisting and not wavering, she sure opened up in a pinch. Either way, it was cute, and the duo's chemistry is undeniable. However, I never got how Angelica was so OK with Will flirting with Tia all the time. Even if they weren't technically together, I sensed that Angelica thought they were, and if I were her, I wouldn't be totally OK with someone else, especially someone with the reputation Tia had, touching and flirting with my "boyfriend" so much. We also get a glimpse at what's to come for Sawyer, Kaye, harper and Brody, which was kind of cool considering I read this series out of order and already know how those four end up. It's almost like seeing the future, haha. Over all the story was good and a great edition to my 2015 reading list with only a couple days left in the year. But it was by no means better than the second and third superlatives novels. "We shouldn't have feelings for each other, but we did, and they were more important than anything else—at least when we were together." "This scenario made me sound like an alien sucking her brains out through a straw, but it also kind of made sense." "He looked incredibly sad. Now that I saw this, I couldn't believe I hadn't noticed before. How long? Since I moved here, he murmured." "You talk funny. Are you from Russia? Yes, he said." |
