“I kept always two books in my pocket, one to read, one to write in.” ― Robert Louis Stevenson
Rating: 6/10"My idea of exercise is walking downstairs to get ice cream." "But no, he hadn't appeared in her mind again. He was right there." "Last year he..." "I was eating chili dogs with a beautiful girl. That's like a male fantasy come true." | This book was meh. I had a couple problems with it. First, the three main girls seem pretty shallow. All they talked about were boys, brands and complained about things wrong with their lives. There was no substance. Scenes also tended to cut off before getting to the good parts. It's almost like there was an intro to the scene and then a little recap after the fact. And then in one part it quite literally cut off. I don't know if it was the e-version I had or what but when Greta was about to tell Cassie and Kegan about what trey did at prom, the chapter ended in the middle of a sentence... The storyline was OK, I guess, but there really wasn't a lot to it. I found myself skimming a lot just to get to the parts that I thought were important. The beginning was über slow. I don't think it got to Trey and the fact that he was the "love interest" of the story until at least four or five chapters in. And even so I couldn't tell if I was going to like him or not. I knew he would probably turn out being OK, but I never felt totally comfortable with him and saw him more as a stalker. I mean, showing up around someone so many times without knowing him well or if he's even a good guy is kind of creepy, no? That's all I really have to say about it. There were bright spots but also quite dim ones. I will say the bringing socks part to the bowling alley was cute, as well as the chili dogs. |
