“In the case of good books, the point is not to see how many of them you can get through, but rather how many can get through to you.”— Mortimer J. Adler
Rating: 7/10"If I can bring everyone else down to my level, I won't be so alone." "It says true love is strong enough to break all bonds, to keep the stars apart, to build life and follow each and every person wherever they go." | I thought this story would be really great. I read Click to Subscribe (liked it) and the description for this book (liked it). But alas. The ending started really slow and seemed so repetitive. There was too much about Cali and Logan hating each other and them hating each other and that game seemed to drag on for too long. I ended up skimming a lot of it just to get to the "good parts," which I will admit were good. Once Cali finally put aside her anger and really just let her be friends with Logan and feel things she needed to feel about him and her brother's death, the story was much more enjoyable. The integration of poetry and their shared interest in it was cute. You don't often get a male character that sensitive and caring that he shares his feelings in an outlet like that. I can't give much more on the story since I ended up skimming so much, but had the "hatred" part of the story been shorter I definitely would have been able to finish it. I guessed from the start that the poem Cali loved so much was written by Logan and that he would end up going to the poetry convention with her. Predictability and a slow start eventually made me give the story only a meh. |
